I've never been a "winter person". It depresses me...keeps me indoors mostly and I don't like it. I love the sun, and more importantly the ocean. Therapy I usually require every year, and it's for free.
Today, while his bigger brothers were doing their homework, I told Jake to color in a coloring book. He chose Sesame Street. He tends to get bored when he can't play with his brothers and I have to give him ideas to keep him occupied. I caught him flipping through all the pages, but not doing any coloring. So I go over to him and find an interesting page with Cookie Monster on it.
Me: How about you color Cookie Monster
Me: Why not?
Jake: He's not real
Me: He's not?
Jake: (as he turns the page and there is Grover) And he's not either.
Me: (looking at him with my eyebrow's raised, I take a sip of my V8)
Jake: (flips to another page to find Ernie) But he is!
I start cracking up, almost spitting out my veggie juice, and had to "blog" about it!
Ah yes, our "date day/night" in the city.....We enjoyed every second of it! We both agreed that Wicked was "wickedly" fantastic as well. And to think, I was on the fence about going. And now that I have, I want to see more.
You can see the star of the show, Teal Wicks, in the photo left of Jess. Her voice was sooo amazing it gave me goose bumps.
No, I did not go to the show like this....hahaha...I just had fun with my edit tools.
This is one of our FAVORITE places to eat in the city.
We're talking delish diner food!!!
Here is one of Jess' many talents....
Ohhh, the onion rings.........
Hey Jess, I know your reading this.....can we do another one of these days?...and SOON!?
Jess and I are actually going out on a date tomorrow!!! It's been a while....well, with 4 kids and no time, it's very rare these days. We used to go out on "date nights" at least a couple times a month and it's the best thing. We mom's and dad's need that break to re-connect. So anyway, about our date for tomorrow.....Jess' mom got tickets to Wicked, but at the wrong time, (she is going to see it with friends at an earlier time), so she asked if we wanted to go see it. It is playing in San Francisco and so we figured, why not make a day out of it! We will drop the kids off at my Aunt's and drive like hell! (jk) And yes, I will give credit to my Aunt for persuading me to go see it because I was on the fence about it. "Thank you Zizi Paola!"
Luckily Jess' sister lives in San Fran and just had her baby, so we get to go visit for a bit so I can meet and snuggle the wee babe. (Oh, I can't wait for that!) Anyway, after visiting our new niece, we will no doubt go get some fab food somewhere and then make our way to see Wicked. I have heard good things about it and sure hope it's a great production.
We went to the old part of Fair Oaks yesterday with my parents, Aunt & Uncle. There was a little Italian bakery/deli place we went to eat at. Amazing! The sandwiches and oh, the pastries and cookies! Custard filled horns, cannolis, chocolate dipped biscotti's, so delicious!!! After lunch/dessert, we walked around and hung out at a park where there were wild roosters and chickens running around. They were the entertainment! Some were walking into the streets, of course the famous joke, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" came up. It was a pleasant day to spend with family and the kids had fun feeding the "birds" bread, (my mom had some in her bag).
I liked the black and white one
