Grandy Fam update.......

Can someone please find how to slow down the clock of time please? I cannot believe we are in November! I am hosting Thanksgiving this year with my dad's family and there is no way I am ready for that in 7 days. I cherish family holidays and get-togethers, don't get me wrong, but oh the work involved..........and trying to get that done between kids, cooking, and errand running.

Nate and Lo have been keeping me busy crazy with homework. Homework for my older boys a has been a bit of a problem . For one it's the lack of "paying attention" and "applying himself", and the other it is more of a natural struggle. I have said this before.......I HATE HOMEWORK! I hated it as a kid myself and I hate to have to go through it AGAIN 4 times over! I am trying different strategies to get the boys more motivated and hope some of it will get through to them. Overall they are good kids in school and are strong in the math department, but when it comes to English/comp. they would rather do without. I have heard that this is normal for boys, (whatever that means!) They are just excited to have no homework all next week b/c they are home for vacation. (Little do they know that I have a few activities for them to do *wink!) Other then the homework situation, their favorite thing to do is play outside with friends that come over....whether it's trying new tricks on the skateboard or bikes or just playing catch or kickball. Such boys!!

Kadybug has been having a rough time the last 3 weeks. She caught a cold with cough, runny nose and all and it has been hanging on. Along with the cold she has been teething badly with the unpleasant side effects of pain, rash around the mouth, not eating well, and messy diapers that give her a bad diaper rash.......poor baby. I took her in to the doc's because I was suspecting an ear infection.........Guess what?...Double ear infection! She is on meds and was feeling a bit more herself yesterday. Other then all that, Kady has been learning to talk more clearly, runs around the house, she plays well with her brothers, she gets excited with arms up in the air running full speed when her daddy comes home from work, LOVES to dance to any melody, music, jingle, you name it, she's moving those hips! I am still thankful that I finally have a little girl......(shopping has been super fun as well.)

Jakey! What can i say about him? He is a funny little guy as always and a great big help to me during the day to keep Kady happy. I love how he acts all "big boy" when he's hanging out with his older brothers, especially if they are playing outside with friends. He does everything they do. And boy is he HUGE! The kid is a rock solid tank!!! It will be interesting to see how he handles Kinder, but not for another year. Right now he is his own "little man".

Jess is still a hard working, helpful dad and husband....PERIOD Same as always. And for this I am lucky and thankful :)

I have been busy with little projects, getting ready to host a holiday, trying to figure if we should move again.......(yes you heard me correct), and just doing the day to day mommy/housewife things that have to be done or all chaos will break free. It's been a while since I posted something like this. It's easier to just add a picture or two and a few sentences. By the way, I just received my published book of all my blog entries with all the pictures included. It's such a great thing to have for my kids later on in life. (oh, and thanks was part of my "early" Christmas gift!)

Look Who Flew By.......

This is what I found on our kitchen window screen one morning when I opened the blinds. It stayed there all day! At first I thought it was a grasshopper until I went outside for a closer look. The kids thought it was pretty cool looking....."It looks like a leaf mom!" I didn't know what it was called, but we talked about how some animals or insects look a different way so they can be camouflaged.

A Little Late........

I had realized that I didn't post about our Halloween. We started the day with pumpkins! Dad was in charge of cutting out the tops.
After my mom had seen the pictures she commented, "Only in California can you see kids carving outside in shorts and short sleeves."
Then the boys dug in with their handy dandy spoons to scoop out the seeds n guts.

That is the extent of the boys part of carving.....just the scooping part. The rest is left up to mom to carve and clean up!

here is the decorated "porch" area...Kady in the doorway was not part of the props ;)

Trick or Treating time!!! The favorite part of every one's day. Kady's first time too! She walked up to a couple of houses with daddy and the boys before we put her in the stroller for the rest of our outing.

She loved grabbing the candy out of her bucket...Mmm Tootsie Roll!

My three monsters.....well, OK, more like a Spiderman, Hulk, and Skull Biker dude!

Back at home going through the loot and getting a sugar high.

Water for Christmas...

Buy water for Christmas!

4500 mothers bury their children EVERY DAY due to contaminated water.the lack of access to clean water is the leading cause of death in underdeveloped nations.and it doesn't have to be. as we get ready to rush through department stores and browse through catalogs searchingfor the perfect presents....lets pause for a moment.let's 13...lets buy clean water.clean life saving water.
$10 will provide one person in africa clean water for $10 years.your money can change and possibly save someone's life.a real life. let's do this day.$10let water be the first gift you buy this christmas.just think....if all the "whatever readers" gave $10 (you are free to give more if you'd like...)we could raise enough to build a well TODAY.i know how many of you there are...and we could do it!a village could be changed because you read a blog that encouraged you to give.

$10, that is 2 starbucks coffees

it's on CD on itunes

it's a pizza

one movie ticket

less than one container of detergent!

$10 can change someone's life.

Funny guy Jake......

Jake comes downstairs this morning, rushes by me with a grin and goes straight for the TV. He walks back over to me a couple seconds later and says, "The batteries are dead and the TV doesn't work!"
